Chris Jericho botches his mock Goldberg entrance. On 09/14/98, Chris Jericho was doing a long string of promos and interviews mocking Bill Goldberg who was WCW's most popular babyface at the time. On September 10th, Jericho was set to defend his television title against Wrath during a live WCW Thunder broadcast. Jericho came up with an idea to have a private cameraman follow him from his dressing room to the ring along with his "Jericho Security". This was meant to make fun of Bill Goldberg's classic entrance of a cameraman following him from his dressing room to the ring being escorted by WCW security. The plan was for Jericho to get lost and end up locked outside the arena and have Wrath search him out. Everything went smoothly until Jericho made it outside. His problems began when the door he exited from was suppose to lock once it shut behind him. Jericho was suppose to grab for the door but be too late in doing so. Unfortunately, the door wasn't locked and the camera showed Jericho open the door and shut it quickly pretending to still be locked outside. To make matters worst, while he was banging on the door asking to be let in, a WCW staff member opened the door to let him in, not knowing what was going on. The cameras quickly cut away and began following Wrath as he made his way to Jericho. When Wrath finally found Jericho outside, he chased him around a production truck. The camera man followed the two around the truck and Thunder went to a commercial break, not before the fans at home and in the arena saw Wrath run right past Jericho. |
