On October 29th, 1997, during a Promo Azteca show in Tijuana, Mexico, Konnan, El Hijo De Santo, La Parka, El Dandy, Hector Garza, Lizmark Jr. & Super Calo took on Psicosis, Juventud Guerrera, Villano 4 & 5, Silver King, Damien 666, Halloween & Zandokan in a 14-Man Tag Elimination Match. Towards the end of the match, the final participants ended up being Psicosis vs. Konnan/La Parka/Lizmark Jr. Psicosis eliminated La Parka and Konnan but in the final moments was pinned by Lizmark Jr. After the match, Rey Mysterio Jr. comes out to congratulate Lizmark Jr. but ends up attacking him and Psicosis at the same time. Damien 666 comes into the ring to protect Psicosis and is attacked by Mysterio and now Konnan. However, things went sour when Mysterio ripped off the masks of both Psicosis and Lizmark Jr. While this was planned, the result turned out to be a big wrestling no-no as in Lucha Libre, one of the worst things to happen to a wrestler is losing their masks. One of the worst things to do as a wrestler is rip the mask off your opponent. Shortly after this, a chair is seen flying through the air thrown from the crowd. Rey Mysterio Sr. makes his way to the ring and, with Konnan, began parading Mysterio around on their shoulders as Mysterio held up the masks of his two victims. This only adds fuel to the fire as fans began littering the ring with garbage and steel chairs. Soon afterwards, Rey Sr. began exchanging words with some front row fans. He jumped out of the ring to confront them face-to-face and was greeted with fan swinging at him with an arena chair. Rey Sr. responded with a chair shot of his and a full-scale riot breaks out in the arena. Fans began throwing chairs at not just the ring, but at other fans as well. Those who weren't tossing chairs began charging the ring to attack the wrestlers. This forced Mysterio Jr. & Sr along with Konnan to exit the arena hastily with steel chairs over their heads for protection. |
