Consequences Creed's afro prevents head trauma. In the opening match at the August 10th, 2008 TNA Hard Justice pay-per-view in Trenton, New Jersey, Petey Williams (with Rhaka Khan) defended his X-Division Title against Consequences Creed. During the match, while Petey was on the outside of the ring, Creed charged him and executed a diving flip. Despite the gracefulness of his execution, it came to a screeching halt when Creed smacked the back of his head on the ring apron. Normally, especially in front of a New Jersey crowd on live pay-per-view, this would've been met with a classic "You F*cked Up" chant. This didn't happen though because only after a few seconds, Creed stood straight up and seemed completely unphased by what had just happened. This exact same blown spot has happened several times before in wrestling, each resulting in various injures from just a nasty bump on the head to bleeding and concussions. Creed, however, continued and had a very good match for 10 more minutes. Maybe he landed "just right" so not to cause harm, maybe he hid his pain in front of the New Jersey crowd, or maybe his amazingly thick afro prevented serious injury. |
