Chris Benoit Injures His Spine In Result From A Dive.

During the 5/24/01 edition of WWE’s Smackdown, The Dudleys took on Edge & Christian, The Hardy Boyz and Chris Jericho & Chris Benoit in a 4 way ladder match.

At one point in the match Benoit dove from off the top rope to a table on the outside that contained Matt Hardy. Matt quickly moved out of the way and Benoit himself crashed through the table.

The impact caused a neck injury that would require surgery and keep Benoit out of action for over a year.

Despite the injury Chris was able to tough through the pain and not only win the match for his team, but continue to wrestle for another 30 days until after the King of the Ring PPV when he was finally able to go in for surgery.
