ECW Champion Mike Awesome Shows Up On WCW Nitro.

In April of 2000 during Kevin Nash's interview on WCW Monday Nitro, Mike Awesome shocked the wrestling world, making a surprise appearance and attacked Kevin Nash after his interview, while still being the ECW World Champion.

While working in ECW, the company went into debt and Paul Heyman (owner of ECW at the time) owed several wrestlers huge amounts of money, including Awesome. Awesome, seemingly having no other choice and needing a paycheck, jumped ship to WCW.

Due to concern over legal issues WCW refrained from having Awesome appear on their television shows with the ECW belt. Eventually, a compromise was reached which resulted in one of the more bizarre moments in professional wrestling history. Awesome (a WCW employee and ECW champion) appeared at an ECW event, accompanied by WCW's head of security, where he lost the title to Tazz (a World Wrestling Federation employee), who lost it a week later to Tommy Dreamer (a full time ECW wrestler).
